With the event this time being so different and utilizing different mechanics, I figured I'd make a quick guide!
Trick-Or-Treating The trick-or-treat locations are all on the MAIN LEVEL, divided across both regions. They're all major landmarks, and will have an NPC of a character who lives there standing outside. Interacting with them, you'll have the option to 'trick' or 'treat'. 'Treat' will always* give you a candy, which can be used as a healing item or exchanged for 1 credit. 'Trick' has a chance to give you either a positive 30 minute buff, or a negative 15 minute buff. Each NPCs buffs are different, and they stack! The cooldown for trick-or-treating from the same NPC is 30 minutes. But what if I have bad RNG and get the bad buffs? Rinnosuke sells a curse cleansing charm, which will remove all negative buffs. *Watch out for Seija Bossfight The boss's room can be accessed through the gap in the human village's stage, which only appears at night (sim time). You can tell it's night because it'll get all purple with eyes in the sky. The buffs and healing items you get from trick-or-treating are designed to aid you in her fight, so it's best to go in prepared (unless you got buff from fishing and invested all your stats in attack I guess). She attacks like a standard enemy, the draw being she's stronger. But what if she's really kicking my ass? If you're having a lot of difficulty, there's a certain trick-or-treat NPC known to be kindhearted who will help you if you talk to her with 0HP.

Preface - What is this? Every 2 months, Gensokyo has a sim-wide 'story event'! These are just to spice things up and offer a brief change of scenery and something to do. These are just for fun and participation is entirely optional! DO note that participation in the event requires you have Gensokyo's version of GPHUD attached - you can attach it by clicking the signs at the landing, Hakurei shrine, Kourindou, or RP center. This is for tracking your progress and receiving the reward! With that aside... The story so far... With fall comes cooler temperatures and a more relaxed atmosphere! Or, that would be the case, had it not been for... odd circumstances. It's not like it was subtle or anything - at night, the sky quite literally went black and opened up with eyes, which appeared to agitate youkai. Humans became terrified of night falling - but in an attempt to lighten the situation, the Moriya shrine maiden decided to launch a campaign from the outside world - trick or treating! And it seems some major figureheads around Gensokyo were on board, in an attempt to make the odd phenomena seem like just 'part of the season'. The campaign was going well, but while walking the human village at night, you notice an odd, almost inviting gap in space... What's new
Admin note
I was sick for a while, but I'm back! I'd actually had this event planned since July because I'm still bitter I've 'grown out' of irl spooky season activities (and also there's like, covid preventing that stuff anyways). The boss battle has some particle effects, and there's some cheesy dialog as always! I hope you enjoy nonetheless. If you're having trouble, read the guide! The event mechanics are simple but if you go in unprepared you're gonna get punted like a football, probably. If you're someone who's less familiar with Touhou, an important thing to note is the boss as a character is associated with clusters of staring eyes in a black void. This can be seen in the windlight and in her boss room - if clusters or staring eyes make you uncomfortable, make sure you change your windlight and avoid the boss room (accessed through the gap in the human village). Also, the boss uses particle effects for attacks. If for whatever reason you don't want to see these, go to your preferences and lower your particle count under graphics. Since this is something so different, if you encounter any bugs or balancing issues, please let Asteriddle Resident (Tewi) know! The fastest way to submit bug reports would be through the update discord: https://discord.gg/Jk2fcmb4VB KNOWN BUGS: Boss laser effects fire when you enter the boss room for some reason? The music played by the silly music player was done by INUMIGI, provided on the Nico Commons!
